Recommended Transmission Distance Chart

CHART

Updated for UHDTV

In this chart:

In 2015, SMPTE published ST 2081-1, ST 2082-1 and ST 425 and standardized on specific parameters for UHDTV cabling and performance. With 20 years of improvements in the development of chipsets, cabling and active equipment, SMPTE also updated the safe distance formula to -40 dB at 1/2 the clock resulting in longer safe distances for today's applications. While real world applications often go considerably farther, Belden's Recommended Transmission Distance chart shows the safe distance recommended for avoiding the digital cliff on existing coax or new Belden 4794R.
